John 3:16 NASB1995 [16] “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
We believe the Bible is the Inspired Word of God
2 Timothy 3:16 NASB1995 [16] All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
The Mystery. of the Gospel
John 3:1-21 ESV [1] Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. [2] This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” [3] Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
What does it mean to be born again?
- Why do born-again people so often make you wish they’d never been born the first time?
- If you’re not a born-again Christian, you’re a failure as a human being.
- “It’s not a born-again thing; it was a peaceful, really, really cool moment where I just felt that I was no longer the dad anymore. I actually had become a son.”
“I wish to begin again on a daily basis. To be born again every day is something that I try to do”.
“You must be Born Again”
John 3:5 ”Truly, truly I say to you unless one is born of water and the spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God”
The Mystery of the Gospel is “a reality imbued (permeated/ filled) with the hidden presence of God.”
John 3:8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”[a]
Ephesians 1:5-9 NASB1995 [5] He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, [6] to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. [7] In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace [8] which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight [9] He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him.
What are the ingredients of this Mystery?
1. A Supernatural Birth of Christ
John 1:1-2, 14 NASB1995 [1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He was in the beginning with God. [14] And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
2. A Sinless Life of Love, Compassion and Sacrifice
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
3. The Sacrificial Death of an innocent Jesus.
John 10:18 (NASB1995) – No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative.
Hebrews 9;11 – How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!
4. The conquering of Sin and Death Through Resurrection
Romans 8:2 (NASB1995) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
A man without Christ is spiritually dead.
How do I become born again?
Repent & Believe
John 3:14 As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; 15so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life.
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
