We Are a Family of Supers- Part 2

August 18, 2019

Does Helen Want Her Groove Back?

Sometimes we meet other people’s so well that we forget who we are.

When we identify with our secret identity too much, we get when people call upon the superhero in us (Numbers 13:31-33).

“Get Yourself Together!”

The greatest fear of some superheroes is not of a supervillain, but of their own .

your light shine (Matthew 5:16).

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson

One correction: The light is not in ; it’s in and only through Him can everyone have and shine light (John 1:1-13). It’s not light, it’s His light in you.

The secret to using superpower well is knowing that it’s not . The burden is on God, not you.

Crisis Creates Clarity

moments can bring out the best in us, but they also show us our selves.

Helen saw that she was projecting her stresses onto her children, making demands

that further hindered their growth and development (Luke 10:38-42).

Helen was actually stressed because she had been her own needs.

Her stress was not just the result of the physical threats of the moment, but the result of stresses that had over time.

She lost sight of her and was neglecting her (I Timothy 4:14).

Neglected gifts can make you on the inside (Proverbs 13:12).

Not only was Helen a superhero who was hiding her powers, but she lost sight of the ultimate call: to develop the superhero in , namely her .

She had to look past her children’s faults and see their (Romans 5:8).

What Dash and Violet needed in the moment was protection and , not a militaristic directive.

The kids were not prepared to respond to the threat because their parents had not prepared them for the .

Leadership cannot be created in an instant; it must be cultivated over time and requires .

God explains our growth process with , things that take a long time to mature and that require a lot of nurturing (Psalms 1:1-3; Jeremiah 17:5-8; John 15:1, John 15:5).

God nurtures and helps us through His (John 14:16).

Because helps and nurtures His kids through the Holy Spirit, we must help and nurture our through the Holy Spirit.

This includes both our and spiritual kids.

The supernatural in is the only thing that can call out the supernatural in.

“I Expect You to Trust Me”

Helen’s faith awakened her children’s and their supernatural (I Corinthians 11:1).

Once the children’s needs were met, they were much more to their mother’s instruction.

Witchcrafts is not good; it’s because it comes from the .

The devil only wants things for you, but Jesus only wants things for you (John 10:10).

A Whole Family of Supers!

The enemy’s biggest threat is not an individual superhero, but a of supers.

The enemy’s biggest threat is God’s biggest priority: (Genesis 1:28; Exodus 34:7).

Natural and spiritual is the channel through which both blessings and curses flow.

There Are No Lone Rangers

No one’s enough to be a superhero alone. We also need the power of Jesus in other to stop the devil (Matthew 18:19-20).

Gene Warfare

Our entire struggle with the enemy can be explained as a battle over natural and spiritual (Genesis 3:15).
