You are from the one who sent you (John 17:16-18). The one who sent us is . The one who sent Him is the . Just as God has “sent ones” (or ambassadors), Satan has (Matthew 24:4-5, Matthew 24:23-24). Just as Satan can turn himself into an of light, his ambassadors can appear as if they are messengers of truth (II Corinthians 11:12-15). How do you tell the difference between the ambassadors of and ambassadors of Satan when they look and sound so much alike? We must look at judgement biblically, not culturally or (Matthew 7:1-2; Proverbs 18:13, Proverbs 18:17). “Not judge” does not mean “not .” A judgement is still a judgement. If you are withholding judgement, you are withholding from both and bad judgements. We used Kanye West as a test case and the Word as our stick (II Timothy 3:1-5; II Timothy 3:14-17). Drawing from the life and writings of the Apostle Paul, we concluded that it is unwise to put a new into public ministry (I Timothy 3:2-7). We must pray for Kanye West the way Jesus prayed for (Luke 22:31-34; Matthew 26:34-35). Notes More Ways to Discern We must distinguish between worldly success and kingdom , between the American dream and the vision. We cannot measure Christian success by and . While God does prosper people, determining whether material success is from the world or from God requires (Deuteronomy 8:17-18) Jesus Himself did not put His trust in crowds (John 2:23-24). Jesus exposed the true nature of the crowds when he stopped responding to their needs (John 6:25-27). Just because people were following Jesus physically did not mean that they were with Him . Big crowds are more often a sign of spiritual immaturity than they are of spiritual (Matthew 9:35-38). Jesus was not interested in celebrity, nor did He need celebrity to fulfill His mission (John 4:1-4). Jesus was willing to make statements that shrank (John 6:60-66; Luke 14:25-33). Jesus saved his most important statements for the faithful , not the multitudes (Mark 4:33-34). Kingdom progress can involve crowds, but those crowds will consist of people who are hungry for the of life, not physical loaves and fish (Acts 2:41-42; Acts 2:46-47).
